ICI Statement on HELP Committee Passage of Retirement Legislation
Washington, DC; June 14, 2022—Today ICI President and CEO Eric Pan issued the following statement after the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee passed retirement legislation through the committee by a voice vote:
“ICI thanks the members of the Senate HELP Committee for their work today on the Retirement Improvement and Savings Enhancement to Supplement Healthy Investments for the Nest Egg Act (RISE & SHINE Act). The unanimous vote to advance the bill shows that the Senate is working hard to join the House in passing much-needed legislation to expand access to retirement savings plans and improve Americans’ ability to save.
“Chair Patty Murray (D-WA) and Ranking Member Richard Burr (R-NC) are to be commended for their leadership in providing a thoughtful and proactive path forward to improving retirement outcomes for all Americans. ICI looks forward to the Senate Finance Committee adding to the legislation, and encourages consideration by the full Senate of a bipartisan retirement-savings reform package as soon as is practicable.”
