ICI Advances Its Global Pensions Policy Effort

In the June 20, 2014, edition of Focus on Funds, ICI chief economist Brian Reid discusses how ICI is becoming more involved in global retirement savings policy, most recently with the 2014 Global Retirement Savings Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

Transcript

Stephanie Ortbals-Tibbs, ICI Director, Media Relations: Welcome to Focus on Funds, the Investment Company Institute’s weekly roundup of industry news, ICI activities, and research findings.

The Institute continues to deepen its role in the global dialogue around retirement savings, most recently with a global retirement savings conference in Geneva, Switzerland, that convened pensions experts from around the world.

ICI chief economist Brian Reid was there and comments on the discussion around retirement savings that the conference is fostering.

Brian Reid, ICI Chief Economist: ICI Global is bringing together these diverse voices to talk about these common principles. We’re bringing together regulators, academics, asset managers to talk about where pension reform is going globally, how this will affect the local jurisdictions and the rules that are being put in place, and how the asset management industry will need to respond to accommodate these reforms that are being put in place to achieve better pension coverage globally.

Stephanie Ortbals-Tibbs, ICI Director, Media Relations: That’s this week in funds. Next week ICI president and CEO Paul Schott Stevens will share his perspective on key takeaways from the conference. See you then.
