ICI Statement on Nominee for SEC Chair

Washington, DC, January 24, 2013 - ICI President and CEO Paul Schott Stevens issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s announcement that he will nominate Mary Jo White to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission:

“Mary Jo White has a record of extraordinary accomplishment as leader of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York for nine years, chair of Debevoise & Plimpton’s litigation department, and a director of the NASDAQ Stock Exchange. Her experience and outstanding record of success in public service provide a strong foundation for her new role at the SEC, with its focus on protecting investors and maintaining market integrity. We applaud her nomination and look forward to working with Ms. White if she is confirmed as chair of the SEC.”
