ETF Assets and Net Issuance
Washington, DC, February 26, 2026—The combined assets of the nation’s exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $13.90 trillion in January, according to ICI. The Institute’s monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds.
Statistics contained in the Institute’s monthly ETF report have been obtained from information provided to ICI by exchange-traded funds and commodity funds. Commodity funds are listed in the Domestic (Sector/Industry) category.

Highlights: Assets of all exchange-traded funds rose in January by $523.73 billion, or 3.9 percent, to $13.90 trillion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $3208.44 billion, or 30.0 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $1,656.41 billion since January 2025, and global equity ETF assets rose $819.56 billion during this period. At the end of January 2026, assets of bond funds were $2301.24 billion and hybrid funds were $48.90 billion and commodity funds were $408.55 billion.
During January, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $152.63 billion. In January 2025, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $94.85 billion.
