Investment Company Institute Board of Governors Elects New Board Members

Washington, DC; October 16, 2024—Today, the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute (ICI) elected George Walker, Chairman and CEO of Neuberger Berman, to a second year as Chair of the ICI Board of Governors, and Yie-Hsin Hung, President and CEO of State Street Global Advisors, to a second year as Vice Chair. Chair and Vice Chairs of the ICI Board of Governors generally serve two consecutive one-year terms. In addition, the Institute’s full Membership elected a slate of governors to new four-year terms.

Founded in 1940, ICI is the leading association working on behalf of 32,000 regulated funds worldwide and the more than 100 million investors they serve. ICI’s industry-leading research, legal analysis, and policy expertise enable ICI to engage with regulators and policymakers in the United States and around the world as they work to promote effective regulation of the industry. ICI also communicates to a retail investor audience about the benefits of regulated fund and advocates before legislators to raise awareness of the range of benefits regulated funds offer.

The Board of Governors sets the Institute’s policy agenda and guides its work. George H. Walker, the board’s chair, is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Neuberger Berman (NB), a private, independent employee-owned investment manager founded in 1939.

Recently, the Board also elected its newest members Greg Davis, President and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Vanguard, and Bill Huffman, CEO of Nuveen, to fill open positions on the Board. They join the following Governors that were elected to fill open positions on the Board throughout the past year:

  • Omar Aguilar, PhD, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, Schwab Asset Management.
  • Kamal Bhatia, President and Chief Financial Officer, Principal Asset Management.
  • Pamela G. Carlton, Independent Director, Columbia Funds.
  • David DiPetrillo, Head of North America Distribution, BNY Mellon Investment Management.
  • Daniel Gamba, President, Northern Trust Asset Management.
  • Ben Huneke, Managing Director and Co-Head, Investment Management, Morgan Stanley.
  • Martin Small, Chief Financial Officer and Global Head of Corporate Strategy, BlackRock.
  • Joseph Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chair, Allspring Global Investments.
