Exchange-Traded Fund Statistics

Institute staff collect, compile, verify for accuracy, and release statistics on U.S-registered exchange-traded funds.

An exchange-traded fund (ETF) is an investment company whose shares are traded intraday on stock exchanges at market-determined prices. Those ETFs currently in operation mirror stock indexes. Investors buy or sell ETF shares through a broker just as they would the shares of any publicly traded company.
