Exchange-Traded Fund Assets
November 2006Washington, DC, December 27, 2006 - The combined assets of the nation's exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $396.73 billion in November, according to ICI. The Institute's monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds. Statistics contained in the Institute's monthly ETF report have been obtained from information provided to ICI by exchange-traded funds. Trust-issued receipts, such as Holding Company Depository Receipts (HOLDRS), are not included in the report because they are not issued by registered investment companies.

201 | Highlights: Assets of all exchange-traded funds rose in November by $13.43 billion, or 3.5 percent, to $396.73 billion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $107.78 billion, or 37.3 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $60.63 billion since November 2005, and global equity ETFs assets rose $41.93 billion during this period. During November, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $3.06 billion. In 2006, ETFs have experienced a net issuance of $56.98 billion.
