Exchange-Traded Fund Assets
June 2006Washington, DC, July 27, 2006 - The combined assets of the nation's exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $335.11 billion in June, according to ICI. The Institute's monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds. Statistics contained in the Institute's monthly ETF report have been obtained from information provided to ICI by exchange-traded funds. Trust-issued receipts, such as Holding Company Depository Receipts (HOLDRS), are not included in the report because they are not issued by registered investment companies.

201 | Highlights: Assets of all exchange-traded funds rose in June by $10.43 billion, or 3.2 percent, to $335.11 billion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $92.45 billion, or 38.1 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $45.24 billion since June 2005, and global equity ETFs assets rose $42.07 billion during this period. During June, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $10.71 billion. In 2006, ETFs have experienced a net issuance of $29.84 billion.
