Exchange-Traded Fund Assets
April 2007Washington, DC, May 31, 2007 - The combined assets of the nation's exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $466.55 billion in April, according to ICI. The Institute's monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds. Statistics contained in the Institute's monthly ETF report have been obtained from information provided to ICI by exchange-traded funds and commodity funds. Commodity funds are listed in the Domestic (Sector/Industry) category.

359 | Highlights: Assets of all exchange-traded funds rose in April by $22.29 billion, or 5.0 percent, to $466.55 billion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $121.94 billion, or 35.4 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $71.83 billion since April 2006, and global equity ETFs assets rose $42.86 billion during this period. During April, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $6.63 billion. So far this year, ETFs experienced a net issuance of $21.00 billion.
