Exchange-Traded Fund Assets
January 2007WASHINGTON, DC, February 28, 2007-The combined assets of the nation's exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $431.00 billion in January, according to ICI. The Institute's monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds. Statistics contained in the Institute's monthly ETF report have been obtained from information provided to ICI by exchange-traded funds and commodity funds. Commodity funds are listed in the Domestic (Sector/Industry) category.

204 | Highlights: Assets of all exchange-traded funds rose in January by $8.45 billion, or 2.0 percent, to $431.00 billion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $111.36 billion, or 34.8 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $66.32 billion since January 2006, and global equity ETFs assets rose $39.74 billion during this period. During January, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $2.99 billion. In 2006, ETFs experienced a net issuance of $73.99 billion.
