President Signs Bill Renaming Education IRAs

Washington, DC, July 27, 2001 - President Bush signed into law on July 26 S. 1190, legislation which renames Education IRAs as "Coverdell Education Savings Accounts." The legislation is effective as of the date of enactment.

Substantial changes were made to Education IRAs by the "Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001," which was enacted in June.
