Agenda for Retirement Savings Summit Released

Washington, DC, May 23, 1998 - An agenda for the upcoming National Retirement Savings Summit has been published in the Federal Register. The summit will be held June 4-5 in Washington, DC. Approximately three dozen delegates to the summit will represent the mutual fund industry.

The summit's keynote session will feature addresses by President Clinton, Speaker of the House Gingrich, and other Congressional leaders. Panel discussions will focus on (a) the current state of retirement savings and education and (b) public/private-sector "best practices." Delegates will be assigned to breakout groups to discuss employee/employer barriers to retirement savings, and employee/employer opportunities. On Thursday, a White House reception will be followed by dinner hosted by bipartisan Congressional leaders. Friday will conclude with a "call to action" to increase public awareness and promote greater retirement savings.
